About AYiM Summit
The African youth in mining summit and Expo (AYiM 2017) is an annual event which aims to provide a platform for key stakeholders in the mining industry,government, and community leaders to address Africa’s emerging socio-economic, and environmental challenges for sustainable future.
AYiM 2017 would be held in Accra, Ghana from September 25th-26th, 2017, hosted by Ako foundation and Phinklife Institute . The theme of the summit is “African Youth in Mining – “Youth Action Agenda in Mining and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”.
The conference is part of a long-term process of building and fostering regional dialogue on youth inclusiveness in the mining sector which will accelerate growth and build on synergies between mining communities, youth and the mining industries/players.
Activities at the summit shall include;
1. PRE-EVENTS AT COMMUNITY LEVEL.
2. MAIN EVENT
3. POST-EVENT WITH PARTNERS.
The main conference event would include plenary sessions, concurrent sessions, skills-building workshops and exhibitions among others. The conference will anchor on the Six AYiM- pillars namely; Peace, Environment, Employment, Health, CSR and Gender.
About 1000 participants representing various stakeholder and constituency groups are expected at the conference. These include investors, mining professionals,community leaders,chiefs, government officials, financers,mining service providers,civil society organisations,academia, media, youth, and etc.
